I went to see "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" with Laura at the theater. it's one of our favorite movies. we were the only ones there, so we could be as loud as we wanted (which is pretty loud), and I got to test out my new release cable.

This Is Where I Live

I am so happy about this graffiti right outside my window. it's like a sign to me that everything will be alright, and that I don't have to worry so much.

Clementines are in season. They're my favorite.

Stuart sent me some holga photos. He's coming to visit Saturday. I can't wait.

It's starting to get cold out.

This is the first portrait in a long while that I worked so hard on. Most of them I've been throwing something together from a snapshot on iPhoto. It's hard not having Photoshop for myself. this week though I decided to really come up with a set up and work on it, on time. I've been editing it in Lab B on photoshop, and I'm so fucking excited about it. I didn't even realize how much I missed photoshop, or that missing something like photoshop this much was possible. I've really just missed digital photography in general, since I've mostly been doing just film. I like that too, but it's been too time consuming to do both. It's such a relief to have done this portrait in my own style though, and not just the iPhoto editor, which you can't be creative with at all.

I'm cheating this week. this is an old photograph of me I scanned and turned into a polaroid. that's my teddy bear, Panada. I just brought him back from my house to college with me because I realized I had to ball up my sheets and hold them on my side to sleep in the right position without him.
his name is Panada because when I was a little kid I couldn't say Piñata. why is was then applied to my teddy bear, I don't know, he's just always been that, just like the ribbon on his nose has always been there, I don't remember moving it there.

today was my eighteenth birthday. this is my lip piercing which I got at Belmont in Chicago, and my first legal cigarette which I smoked in millennium park until the segway police told us not to smoke on the grass. I was done anyway.

I went camping at the Eel river in the redwoods. it's gorgeous up there. I really like this one, especially all the different textures, you should definitely click it to see it larger. I also have another one I like here. I'll try to do something with more than just my legs next week. the title is from a Greg Brown song, it was very appropriate for the trip.

snorkeling in Haunama bay is like swimming in a fish bowl. the water is crystal clear and there are all kinds of colorful fish. Natalie took this one of me spinning around in the warm water with Baboon peak in the background.

I'm in Hawaii with Celia and Natalie and it's amazing. we've graduated and can't be in a better place to celebrate. this is also my first self portrait with my new Nikon D200. it's amazing, I can't believe I have such a great camera. I can't wait to experiment with it more.

I've had this idea for a while, so I thought I'd get it out of the way and make room for more new ones. I took a few jumping and it turned into something that reminded me of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland when she fell through the rabbit hole. I'll have to give back the yearbook's DSLR, but I might be getting one of my own soon so I'll be able to take good quality photos without using film. I love film, but sometimes you just need a little more room to mess up, especially for a project like this. I had my sister on the shutter for this, and she sometimes likes to not pay attention while I'm explaining the framing to her.

this is the first of fifty two self portraits I will be taking throughout this next year. I'll be posting about one each week, and possibly some of my general thoughts. I have been interested in doing a project like this for a while, and two days ago I shaved my head, so I feel like this is a good time to start. I will be starting a new life after I graduate in two weeks and go to college this fall, so it will be interesting to be able to look back and see how I've changed over this year. here we go.

this is me, straight up. I have brown hair, green eyes, a few freckles, and a little bump on my lip. I have six piercings, two on one ear, three on the other, and one in my nose. I don't wear glasses but I kinda need them. I don't generally wear makeup. my mouth goes to the side a little when I don't know what to do or say.
